Me

Hi There!  So you’re a bit curious about me?  Well, here’s my story.

I graduated from Philadelphia University’s Textile Design Program in 2003 and knew, without a doubt, that I had no idea what direction to head in life. I had some sample yardage of fabric I had woven in school, very basic sewing skills taught to me by my lovely mother, and the idea that I never wanted to be “corporate”.  With these key aspects I created a few hand woven, one of a kind handbags and, to my pleasant surprise, successfully sold them to a well known boutique in Philly. And thus began my career in the textile and accessory business.

Understanding the importance of really learning the industry, I accepted positions handling the business operations for Fleishman’s Fabric on Philadelphia’s Historic Fabric Row as well as Blue Star Silk in New York City’s Garment District.

With a combination of passion, determination (eh-em, stubbornness), naivety, and at times stupidity, I have become well versed in business operations, brand management, and social media as well as navigating artistic development.

I have been lucky enough to receive nods from reputable media outlets like The New York Post, NBC Networks, Daily Candy, and Philadelphia Magazine. Currently, I share my knowledge and passion for textiles and fashion as a freelance writer for various industry blogs.  Also, my interest in all things greater than I, has lead me to organize several lucrative charity fashion shows and exhibits in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.  I am a big believer in designing with a purpose.

I have recently put designing accessories on the back burner, and embrace weaving more as a hobby than a profession.  I have accepted a position as Vice President of Global Content for an Online Global Shopping Website called MySocietyStyle.  This endeavor has led me to a relocation to Singapore, which is absolutely thrilling!

I continue to head up StartUp FASHION, a resource website that I started for emerging designers and industry professionals.

I love great food and wine, green tea, reading historical fiction, Dr.Pepper Lip Smackers and epiphanies.
