The Idea

Building a Responsibly Stylish Brand

For the past couple of months I have been working on re-branding my textile and accessory business. I love what I do but I realized that I wasn’t happy with the direction that I was taking. There didn’t seem to be any real purpose to what I was doing.  So I decided to focus on three glaring issues I see in the world today: the future of the environment, the state of the economy, and the importance of helping those in need. How am I planning on doing this, you ask?   Here’s how:

  • The Environment:
By purchasing organic and naturally dyed fabrics and leathers
By purchasing all raw materials within the United States; lessening my carbon footprint
By creating classically beautiful accessories that will not be discarded next season. Because, otherwise, what’s the point, right?
  • The Economy:
By purchasing all materials needed to create the bags from American small businesses
By having my fabrics produced by textile mills in the United States
By hiring freelance pattern and sample makers as well as New York based small run manufacturers for production
  • Charity:
By donating 10% of the profit made on the sale of a bag to a charity of the purchaser’s choice
By helping raise awareness of various charitable organizations through social networking and new media

I am still in the early stages of this re-brand. I can’t wait to move forward to production and really start marketing the work, mission, and concept. So please feel free to read, form opinions, share your thoughts, and enjoy the journey of a single textile designer on a mission to build a brand and do it responsibly.
